New Pricing Plans

As you probably already know, we recently released the initial pricing structure we will be implementing when appFigures comes out of beta later this month. We’ve received a lot of feedback from members who asked for more flexibility with different amounts of apps. First we’d like to thank everyone for your suggestions and critiques, it shows us you care. In turn we decided to revise the plan structure a bit to allow for more flexibility.

What’s changed?

Free plan: The free plan now includes unlimited Sync on Demand.

Paid plan: Instead of having to pay for a package with a set number of apps and potentially more apps than you really have, start with the basic plan and add as many apps as you need. You can add more apps to your plan at any time.

Accounts with more apps will receive discounted rates:

  • 10 to 29 apps: 10% off.
  • 30 to 59 apps: 20% off.
  • 60 to 100 apps: 30% off.
  • More than 100 apps? Contact us for a publisher discount.

  1. There’s a bit of an inconsistency:

    9 apps costs 4.99 + 1.49 * 9 = $18.40

    But 10 apps costs (4.99 + 1.49 * 10) * 90% (10% discount) ~= $17.90

So, having 9 apps costs 50 cents more than having 10 apps? And you can probably find similar oddities at the higher tiers.

  3. Sorry, I just realized a mistake in my calculation. 2 apps are included free, so for 9 apps you only need to pay $1.49/mo for 7.

    Thus, 9 apps costs 4.99 + 1.49 * 7 = $15.42

    And 10 apps costs (4.99 + 1.49 * 8) * 90% (10% discount) ~= $15.21

The same point holds. It appears that having 9 apps costs 21 cents per month MORE than having 10 apps.

  5. so for my 7 apps, it still costs me $150/year
…or I can get AppViz forever for $30

it’s a nice service, but not that nice.

    Sorry.

  7. When you are competing with similar products that are FREE, or have a fixed price (like AppViz) set this kind of price is a pill difficult to swallow.

C’mon, it’s only an importer and a report, that tops like a week coding. I think you should charge for your service and your bandwidth, but $4.99 PLUS $1.50 x app over 2 and MONTHLY ! Man, that’s incredible !

Even Mozy that stores unlimited data is cheaper !

  9. While I do like the new pricing structure much better than the old one, I must comment that the free version seems more like a trial than a subscription. The real killer feature is the ability to set it and forget it. I don’t have to worry about losing my reports after a week. I don’t have to worry about anything. I just come to the page whenever I want an update. Anyway, I’m sure that someone with some PHP skill could easily make a script to sync AppFigures every day, defeating this limitation. But, otherwise, U think that this pricing scheme is a much needed improvement over the old one.

  11. The small publisher (i.e 1-10 apps) are penalized in your model. I am not sure your pricing justify the cost, when you put things in context, the pricing model cost more a month than a regular website hosting plan or a monthly basic DSL High Speed internet service.

I have 10 apps and the value for the money is not there compare to other services. I think a starting point of $4.99 for 1 to 10 Apps is fair for the value and then you paid the $1.49 for each.

    Please advise

  13. I’m indy with 2 app (1 free and 1 paid) and i’m working in other one.
    Total: 4 app (2 free)
    The cost will be $4.99/mo.+ ($1.49/mo x2) = 7,97$
If the price was 1$/mo or 2$/mo i could asume it.
With 8$/mo i’m sorry but i’ll buy AppViz that it’s very similar and the reviews of the world are integrated in only one screen.
Sorry but i can’t understand this price so expensive for 2 app + 2 free

  15. thanks for the effort! I still think that it gets expensive fast though. and 2 apps really aren’t a lot. And the problem is: it gets expansive later on. I’m not going to take my old apps off the store later on when they stop selling, but your price goes up and up with no means of only tracking the currently most interesting apps…
I’m still somewhat tempted to subscribe now though… it’s still $60/year, but I might try it at least until I find a good automated solution that I can install on my own servers…

  17. I like others still think this is too expensive for what it is. I have four apps and it just isn’t cost effective enough for me to join.
You have to compare your pricing to your competitors (AppViz).

  19. The price is still too expensive. I have tried AppViz and wonder if it is worth $29.99. Now it sounds more reasonable after your pricing plan is post, and i will pay $29.99 for AppViz right now!

  21. I knew months ago that I’d sign up for a paid plan when that happened no matter the cost; what you provide saves us time every day. Like the new plan a lot; works for us!

  23. I was really, really, really hoping you would come out with a lower price. I’m not going to tell you that it was an awful decision to come out with this pricing level, but I am just disappointed that many developers, including myself can’t afford to be paying fees like this just for a reporting tool. It shouldn’t take away from your product, it really is great, but I do think you will lose a large amount of people to AppViz(including myself). I will make a recommendation just in case you happen to change your mind. I think it would be very fair to give developers complete functionality for ONE app, and then have a pricing scheme for all additional apps. I think you would be surprised how many people would sign up for this and you could probably leverage this in some way. Anyway, I loved the trial and hope you guys do well. If the price is lowered, I’ll be the first one back.

  25. This plan is much more attractive to me than the previous announcement – I’ll definitely be signing up!

I’m not sure how people are griping about $8/month, or suggesting they could code a replacement up with little bother. AppFigures is a great service, and honestly – if you have any paid apps, $5/month is a bargain for good, clear sales information.

  27. I’ve been using the beta version and loving it. Its possible there are other sites out there that’ll something similar for free, but for only 4.99, it hardly seems worth the trouble of hunting around for them.

I’m especially excited about the reviews feature. Right now its a pain to click through all the countries, seeing if theres anything new, and if you can automate that into just getting an email when a new one arrives, than you’ll be be best friend for life!
